From planet@astro.rug.nl Tue Aug 3 01:31:53 MET 1999 Subject: High Amplification Alert Date: Tue, 3 Aug 1999 01:30:53 +0200 () Dear Colleagues, Combined fits to PLANET collaboration data and public OGLE data for the OGLE-detected microlensing event OGLE 99-BUL-035 indicate that this event is a very high amplification event that may have peaked near JD = 2451392.6, that is, about 15 hours before the date of this message. Event: OB-99-035 (OGLE 99-BUL-035) RA (J2000): 17:49:01.66 Dec (J2000): -30:15:40.4 Baseline I magnitude reported by OGLE team is 18.89. The event appears to be exceedingly faint in the V band. Approximate current magnification is about 34. This event should be monitored closely to measure source resolution effects near the peak, which may be used to determine the relative proper motion of the lens. Such high amplification events are also particularly sensitive to the presence of stellar and planetary companions. Finding charts and updated information can be found on the PLANET web page at: http://www.astro.rug.nl/~planet. OGLE information on the same event can be found at the OGLE alert web page at: http://www.astrouw.edu.pl/~ftp/ogle/ogle2/ews/ews.html
