From planet@astro.rug.nl Tue Jun 1 01:48:41 MET 1999 Subject: PLANET ANOMALY ALERT: OGLE 99-BLG-11 Dear Colleagues: The PLANET collaboration has detected an anomaly in the on-going microlensing event OGLE 1999-BUL-11. The OGLE collaboration has previously alerted the possible binary nature of this event. Recent PLANET observations show a brightening of 50% over the past 9 days, with a curvature that suggests a rise toward a second caustic crossing. If this interpretation is correct, we predict that this crossing is likely to occur near JD=2451334 +/- 2, although the future behaviour of this event is still quite uncertain. OGLE reports a baseline magnitude of I=18.5 for this event, which is currently brighter by a factor of three over this baseline value. Event: OGLE 1999-BUL-11 RA (J2000): 18:05:29.59 Dec (J2000): -27:59:14.4 Observations, both photometric and spectrographic are encouraged. Finding charts and future update information can be found on the PLANET web page at: http://www.astro.rug.nl/~planet. OGLE information on this event can be found at the OGLE alert web page at: http://www.astrouw.edu.pl/~ftp/ogle/ogle2/ews/ews.html
