From planet@astro.rug.nl Sun Apr 4 22:19:13 MET 1999 Subject: PLANET ANOMALY ALERT: OB-99-005 Date: Sun, 4 Apr 1999 22:18:26 +0200 () Dear Colleagues, Combined fits to PLANET collaboration data and public OGLE data for the OGLE-detected microlensing event OGLE-99-BLG-005 indicate that this event is either a very high amplification event that will peak in the next 4 (+/- 3) days or a caustic crossing event about to undergo a (second) caustic crossing near JD = 2451274, that is, about 15 hours from the date of this message. If the event is indeed inside a caustic contour and about to undergo a second crossing, then it is blended with another star. This event should be monitored closely to measure source resolution effects near the possible caustic peak, which may be used to determine the relative proper motion of the lens, or perhaps limb-darkening of the source star. Event: OB-99-005 (OGLE 99-BLG-005) RA (J2000): 17:47:24.05 Dec (J2000): -34:46:21.5 Baseline I magnitude reported by OGLE team is 18.82. Approximate current magnification is 9 or somewhat larger. Finding charts and updated information can be found on the PLANET web page at: http://www.astro.rug.nl/~planet. OGLE information on the same event can be found at the OGLE alert web page at: http://www.astrouw.edu.pl/~ftp/ogle/ogle2/ews/ews.html
