--------------------------------------------- PLANET ANOMALY UPDATE 2005 #0-7 (issued 03-Jun, 01:00 UT) --------------------------------------------- Source has re-entered caustic Dear Colleagues, PLANET data taken on event OGLE 2005-BLG-018 with the Danish 1.54m at ESO LaSilla, the Canopus 1.0m and the Perth 0.6m, and OGLE data have shown that the source has exited the caustic before HJD=2453516.664 (26-May, 3:57 UT) and remained outside. More recent data collected by PLANET with the Canopus 1.0m and Danish 1.54m, however show that the slope of the lightcurve has changed abruptly, indicating a caustic re-entry. The time is constrained by OGLE data to sometime soon after HJD=2453523.8 (2-Jun, 07:12 UT). The event is now rising by about 0.25 mag/day. The caustic passage is expected to last around 7 days. This long duration together with the brightness of the target star provides an unprecedented opportunity for resolving a stellar atmosphere. Photometric and spectroscopic follow-up observations are strongly encouraged. Event: OGLE 2005-BLG-018 RA (J2000): 17:51:23.53 Dec (J2000): -29:39:27.8 The baseline I magnitude reported by the OGLE team is 15.448.
