--------------------------------------------- PLANET ANOMALY ALERT 2005 #0 (issued 9-May, 23:15 UT) --------------------------------------------- OGLE 2005-BLG-018 expected to undergo fold-caustic entry Dear Colleagues, after OGLE data on event OGLE 2005-BLG-018 revealed a first peak around HJD=2453461 (31-Mar), with a half-maximum width of about 8 d, the event rose again and is still rising as both OGLE and PLANET/Robonet data collected at the Faulkes North 2.0m telescope show. We suspect the lens to be a stellar binary with a mass ratio in the range q ~ 0.7-1.0. If this interpretation (see attached model plot) is correct, a fold-caustic entry may be in progress now, respectively within the next 3-10 days. We plan to update our predictions as the monitoring continues. Watching this event carefully for a caustic entry is recommended for the next few days in order to avoid missing it. Event: OGLE 2005-BLG-018 RA (J2000): 17:51:23.53 Dec (J2000): -29:39:27.8 The baseline I magnitude reported by the OGLE team is 15.532. The PLANET network will not be fully operational before 15-May. For technical reasons, we are currently unable to provide you with a regularly updated light curve, which will appear as soon as our system is ready. -------------- On behalf of the PLANET collaboration Daniel Kubas %%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%% If you prefer not to receive further PLANET Anomaly Alerts, please send an e-mail to planet@iap.fr.
